My first NFT collection released on the occasion of my biggest exhibition yet, titled "I Believe".
The central connecting visual theme of the exhibition is "where reality ends, fiction begins." NFTs, which are now an integral part of the virtual world - the world of fiction - have an important place within the exhibition.
The "Yellow" collection features 10 thematic photographs that mainly represent feelings of alienation and loneliness. By releasing these photographs as virtual tokens, it carries a special symbolism, as we turn to the virtual world precisely when experiencing these emotions.
Like with the other photographs in the exhibition, these are a mix of surreal documentary photographs that look stylized with artificially created depictions of emotions - a bit like Alice in Wonderland and Through the Looking Glass. I connect the worlds of reality and fiction.
What Is an NFT?
An NFT, short for non-fungible token, is a unique piece of code immutably recorded on a blockchain.
Essentially, an NFT serves as an undisputable, undeniable and unchangeable proof of ownership for the artwork it represents.
In this case, each NFT represents ownership of a photo from the “Yellow” collection.
Why to Have the NFT?
You will become the only person that owns the digital original of a photo represented by the NFT. There will be no physical originals.
Just as the duplicate of a physical artwork holds little value compared to the original, the same principle applies to digital art. The original holds worth as it embodies the artistic legacy of its creator.
